More concerts coming to the county this summer

Get your dancing shoes and get ready to shag, swing and sway. This summer you will find more free community concerts in the area than ever.

Friday Night Live, sponsored by the Merchants Association downtown Belmont, the pleasure begins this week with the presidents of the Council. The free show runs 7.10 pm on Main Street in Belmont and features food vendors and a beer garden.

One of the biggest changes in the lineup of concerts this season is happening in Mount Holly, where the non-profit Mount Holly Days is planning Mount Holly Nights.

The series features no more than double the number of concerts last year, with bigger bands famous beach, a beer garden and wine, and a move from Thursday to Friday evening.

Mount Holly Nights kick off 70-10 pm May 27 with Coming Up Brass, and throughout the summer will feature the Catalina embers, fairground, The Fantastic Shakers, Maurice Williams & The Zodiacs and Chairs Council.

"We flip-flop every other Friday nights Belmont," said co-president Carol Featherstone."We sat with people in Belmont to get ideas about how they ran things because we have seen how they have managed to attract large crowds. We will have eight shows this year, and a raffle $ 20,000 and a new beer and wine garden. "

Proceeds go to Nights Mount Holly Mount Holly Community Relief Organization and scholarships for students from East Gaston High School who do community service projects. Caromont Health is sponsoring the series.

Mount Holly Nights is also the movement of block 100 to block 200 Main Street.Bands will play on the grassy knoll next to the knife and fork, leaving Main Street to concert-goers to create chairs and dance. Food vendors, restrooms and VIP tents will be located at Manor Field, while the beer garden will be on David before detailing on the corner of Main and Catawba. First Presbyterian Church will provide child care.

Other options for this year include a display of vintage cars, a NASCAR simulator and a ferris wheel set for various shows.

"The camaraderie in the community has been great," said Featherstone. "Everyone works together to make it a success.We hope that thousands of people who went to concerts of Belmont will affect us too. "
