Kosse, TX (May 9, 2011): A new product from U.S. Silica, also operated at its plant in Kosse, was recently featured in an episode of Emmy-winning ABC show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. The product, Beach Volleyball WHITETM Sands, has been given to create a volleyball outdoors as part of a new house built for a volleyball coach from Florida and mentor. The coach is also the guardian of three young sisters. The episode aired on Sunday, May 8, 2011 8-9 am on ABC and ET star Carrie Prewitt, who has coached high school volleyball and mentor to his students for 25 years.Not surprisingly, when relatives of one of his pupils died, it was a natural choice for Carrie to help both the girl and her two younger sisters. Carrie became their permanent guardian and provided a stable home and loving. Carrie small dilapidated house, however, could not accommodate the growing family and becomes dangerous to live in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition heard about their situation and built a new house structurally sound in just seven days, with a sand volleyball ball in the backyard."It is wonderful that Extreme Makeover: Home Edition is able to provide support to such a family in need," said AVCA Executive Director Kathy DeBoer, "and sand volleyball to become a sport in NCAA Spring 2012 for Division I and II, the land of sand is a particularly nice touch.
