Green Energy: Barack's Magic Beans
According to the Lundberg Survey last week, while the national average for gasoline is approaching $ 4/gallon (prices have increased by 35 consecutive days), higher prices of gas in the nation are in Chicago , who reported an average price of $ 4.27/gallon, with some stations charging $ 4.60 to $ 4.70 a gallon.I am tempted to feel sympathy for them, at least until I remember that it is the policy makers feed and raise the current occupant of the White House that the estimated position, a man who loves a statist economy command and control where the government dictates the terms under which goods and services are exchanged. When I think about it, I lose my religion and I think they have not suffered enough.
Barack Obama, channeling his inner Bill Clinton (remember him, the first black president), now says he feels our pain, but unfortunately there is no "silver bullet" that will make Gas prices in the short term. This is perhaps the closest he came to make a true statement on the subject since he told us that candidate Obama that his policy "necessarily lead to energy prices to skyrocket." But compared with the decrease in the number of votes and rising anger at gas prices, Obama did what every political charlatan does best ... find a scapegoat.
Comrade President recently announced that he had directed Attorney General Eric Holder to form a task force to “root out” any instances of fraud or manipulation in the oil markets (presumably because the Holder DOJ has plenty of time on their hands since they won’t be investigating the Black Panther voter intimidation case), including going after those evil oil speculators. Every time oil prices spike politicians raise the populist banner and come riding in on their white horses, promising to go after “price gougers” who are taking advantage of people. This is done with much table pounding and angry declarations, which make us feel good that our vaunted public servants are coming to our rescue and will find and prosecute these detestable rapscallions.
Here’s the problem though. Other than a few gas stations owners here and there, they never find those “gougers”. You can go back twenty years or more and find that every time gas prices spike too high, politicians launch investigations with much fanfare. You’ll also find that pretty much every single investigation finds, months later, that the “gouging” was simply the market responding to market forces. That old supply and demand, it will get you every time.

Barack The Magic Negro from Rush Limbaugh
Rush knew it would be controversial. That's why he did it.
This parody is to call attention to this:

Limbaugh saw that in the middle of the Imus flap, the Los Angeles Times could publish something so unbelieveably race or color centered on it and not known about it. He knew he would be ... and when he did, he could refer to the LA Times that coined the phrase.
Hey ... He is intelligent and does illustrate the double standard ... and I'm not a fan of Rush.

Shanklin is a mockery of racism to Obama. David Ehrenstein is the one who called Obama the "Magic Negro," invoking the name given to a person of shares in the fiction that only exists to help the white protagonist. (A classic example: Scatman Crothers in "The Shining.")

Sharpton is dragged into this because, as Ehrenstein, is part of this contingent is due to a restrictive interpretation of what constitutes authenticity black.(. And because Sharpton has a famous voice, which was passed before Shanklin) Obama fits the mold for this - there is a strong left - but he drew suspicion because it attracts a large number of white supporters .
(One wonders how many people would be upset if our first black president had no roots in American slavery.)
This compares to parody "Blazing Saddles" - both present racism in a work intended to ridicule racism.

Oh, you Donovan McNabb history wrong.Allen Barra in Slate got it right:
"Rush Limbaugh did not say Donovan McNabb was a bad quarterback because he is black. He said that the media have exaggerated McNabb because he is black, and Limbaugh is right. He did not said he would not have said, and in fact, he says things that other commentators have been saying for some time. "
The media tend to be a little media in favor of black athletes who play sports positions where blacks have always been rare. As McNabb incident illustrates, such a bias can hinder objective reporting.Since the last Super Bowl coverage has shown, it can also lead journalists to enable the realization talk black talk talent to overshadow specific population in question.
