Beware decline in Pakistani relations

The compassionate international nuclear security in Pakistan began minutes after the news about the disappearance of Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad. This happens every time there is a dramatic event in Pakistan - like the assassination of Benazir Bhutto, a terrorist attack against the headquarters of the army or flood.

No matter what happens, Western officials and commentators are wondering, "What does this mean about nuclear weapons?" In fact, Pakistan's nuclear weapons are probably quite safe from terrorists - Nuclear weapons are the crown jewels. The Army cares about them so do not bin Laden's whereabouts or the fight against the Haqqani network.

But Islamabad is at its height about whether its nuclear facilities are safe for Americans.

The nuclear issue is different from Pakistan. For most countries, the question is, can terrorists steal nuclear weapons? In Islamabad, it is, can the U.S. or India to fly?

SEAL raid on the compound of bin Laden shakes Pakistan. The stealth with U.S.commandos slipped in and out of Pakistan - apparently without provoking a response from Pakistan - is viewed in Pakistan as proof that such a mission could be successfully directed against nuclear facilities.

Communications Security in Pakistan is humbled that bin Laden was trapped at the sight of his top military academy. That the Pakistani army and intelligence services were complicit has no bearing on the question of nuclear safety. But the alternative - that the security forces are incompetent - should be alarming.

The Pakistani army is considered the only national institution that works. It is supposed to be ubiquitous - with eyes and ears around the country. In this regard, it does not seem credible that nobody knew in the establishment where bin Laden.

Unless, of course, that the image is exaggerated and inaccurate. That's true concern.

Western analysts have been quick to jump on the security implications of nuclear incompetence. The New York Times: "He raised the question whether insurance provided by the Pakistani army can be trusted, including the security of its nuclear arsenal."

In Pakistan, however, the relevance of its nuclear safety trigger different alarms. Here, it is feared that the United States or India will launch a preemptive strike to destroy or steal nuclear weapons from Pakistan. This fear has long been cultivated since the 1980s, when the program to bomb Pakistan was illegal.

Osama bin Laden. She was assassinated shortly after in December 2007.

Newscast Media WASHINGTON, D.C–The recent announcement of OBL’s alleged death has raised many question as to the timing of the announcement and when exactly Bin Laden died. Many skeptics have argued that OBL was killed sometime in the early to mid 2000s, and are taking this news with a grain of salt. Another school of thought believes a team of US Navy Seals captured and shot OBL and was buried at sea. This article will attempt to analyze the factors leading to the alleged death of OBL and what has transpired thereafter.

The hesitation of the government to release a photo has sparked debate and created more doubt as to whether any photo that may be released will be genuine. The Obama administration claims they are being sensitive toward the Muslim community that’s why they have withheld the photos. OBL was captured alive, but they still won’t release a photo of his capture and what he looked like. The alleged burial at sea was explained with the excuse that no country would have been willing to accept his body, and Islamic tradition required a burial with a 24-hour period time span.

Saddam Hussein: When Saddam Hussein was captured on December 13,2003 in a rat-hole, the photos of his capture were immediately released, and Saddam Hussein was a practicing Muslim. There was no talk of being culturally sensitive, and they even aired his death by hanging. If Saddam Hussein’s photos of his capture raw video of his death were good enough to be aired yet he was a Muslim, why can’t the same be applied to OBL?

In the interview above by Benazir Bhutto, she claims that OBL was killed by former British Intelligence officer Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh. Omar Sheikh had connections that reached high into Pakistan’s military and intelligence elite and into the innermost circles of Osama Bin Laden. In July 2002 Omar was sentenced to death for the kidnapping and murder of Wall Street journalist Daniel Pearl. Omar Sheikh filed an appeal that hasn’t been heard.

Media outlets across the globe are waiting for the photos. Some are suggesting that this is opportunism on behalf of the Obama administration because Obama’s approval ratings were at an all time low. Others think, he may release a photo or two and since this is an election cycle, might wait until sometime next year to release more photos or even video if at all they exist. One thing is for certain, this is a political Chess game, where every move is calculated to produce maximum results. The question is, who are the pawns?
