Tipton to tour Pinon Canyon, seek solution

The meeting, to include questions of voters, is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Room Pioneer Sullivan Student Center on the campus of Trinidad Junior College, 600 Prospect Street

Opportunity to increase the size of the Army Training 238 000 hectares to the east of the city has been controversial over the past five years. Landowners, farmers and elected officials have hotly contested plans to expand the training ground.

The army made no immediate plans for expansion, saying it is not in the budget plan for five years.

Tipton said he is seeking a long term solution to the controversy.

Breeders who foolishly voted for him because he is a conservative reluctance to pay a high price for his election. People need to do some reading and understand that although Eisenhower was a good man and a conservative, these new Republicans are simply radical right wing nuts. They oppose the taking of private land for a school, but if for a military base then that's fine. I oppose the taking of private land by force for nothing.

So you'll have a town hall meeting ... you do not get it ... THE PEOPLE WILL NOT give up their land!

What would you do that? Have been misinterpreted his words? Was it a lie?Was it a misquote? Ultimately, you never said what the crowd wanted here.

Mr. Tipton does not know what it is like to live paycheck, he can not relate to the regular Joe on the street. I was once told by someone, "People must learn to manage it is so much money in times of financial crisis, everything will be fine." Sure, she was living off an inheritance.

Tom Warren, former Assistant Commander Garrisi range of training 238 000 hectares, has been withdrawn from this work as part of an ongoing investigation, according to Colonel Eugene Smith, Fort Carson garrison commander.

"The investigation does not (the Pinon Canyon Maneuver Site) expansion anyway," Smith said in a statement Wednesday. "Mr.Warren has been temporarily assigned to other duties. "Word of Recall of Warren in early February was circulated among the opponents of the expansion of these days. Often, the lightning rod that bore the brunt of the anger of farmers comments at public meetings, Warren was also respected by many landowners for his work on environmental training ground today.

Warren was charged with the Fort Carson Directorate of environmental and management until October 2007 when he was deputy commander of the garrison the task of managing direct Pinon Canyon expansion. At that time, the Army has been hoping to acquire 414,000 more acres in the training ground, but reduced this target to 100,000 acres last summer.

The Government Accountability Office, the investigative arm of Congress, took the Army to task in January in two reports requested by the legislature on the expansion project.GAO investigators Fort Carson criticized for not responding adequately to questions about how and how often they use Pinon Canyon. They also said the army had failed to explain why it had reduced its effort to acquire up to 100,000 hectares of land.

Responding to questions about the status of Warren on Wednesday, Smith said that the investigation did not involve reallocating Warren expansion.
