The State of California Integrated
Waste Management Act of 1989 (Assembly Bill 939) mandated all jurisdictions
to divert 50% of
their waste stream from our landfills through a variety of recycling
programs. One of those programs in place within the City of Blythe,
is a Concrete and Asphalt Recycling program. These items by are
heavy by nature and provide the City of Blythe substantial diversion
credit toward achieving and maintaining compliance with AB939.
All demolition and construction projects that will have either
Concrete, Asphalt, or both removed must provide to the City of
Blythe Development Services
Department an approved "Recycling
Plan" for their project during the permitting process. Information
about this program is available at the City of Blythe located at
235 North Broadway Blythe, California (760) 922-6130.
If you have
specific questions regarding the program and your project, please
contact Palo Verde Valley Disposal Service at (760) 922-9107. We
will try in every way to assist you in meeting this requirement
and thank you for you cooperation. Please remember that this requirement
was enacted by the State of California and imposed on all cities
and counties. For additional information you may want to contact
